SmugMug supports the two types of photo files that are compatible with virtually every browser: JPEG and GIF images, including animated GIFs.
The current size limitations on photos are:- 12 megabytes for Standard and Power users
- 24 for Pros
- 48 megapixels for all users
We also support png files, though they have limited browser compatiblity so we recommend using them only for building your own themes (Power and Pro users) and custom watermarking (Pro).
Note: View pngs and animated gifs at the original size to see transparency and animation, respectively.
Gotcha: Only jpegs can be ordered as prints & gifts.

Videos
For video clips, the limits are in length: 2.5 minutes for Power Users, 5 minutes in HD and 10 minutes in DVD quality for Pros. In no case can files be greater than 512 megabytes. More.
